How to Edit Notes in Supanote?

Editing is where Supanote becomes truly yours.

Updated over 3 months ago

Capturing your session is just the beginning. Editing is where your expertise meets Supanote’s AI.

Think of Supanote as your clinical assistant: it drafts a structured note for you, but you’re always in control. Editing lets you make the note sound like you - your voice, your modality, your compliance needs.

Here’s how to edit your notes:

1. Open a Draft Note

  • On your dashboard, find the Notes Pending Review section.

  • Click View Note on the draft you want to edit.

2. Manual Editing (Direct Changes)

  • Your draft is fully editable, just like a Word doc.

  • Click anywhere in the text to add, delete, or change wording.

  • Supanote auto-saves changes as you type - no “Save” button needed.

  • Edit client details (name, date, session type) in the left panel.

💡 Tip: Many therapists use manual edit to add personal reflections or remove extra detail they don’t want in the final record.

3. Use Tell Supa AI for Smart Edits

This is where Supanote really shines.

Instead of retyping everything, you can “tell” Supa AI what you need — in plain English (or any supported language).

  1. In the note editor, click Tell Supa AI (on the right).

  2. Type or dictate your request.

  3. Supa AI instantly applies the change to your draft.

Examples you can try:

  • “Make this note more concise.”

  • “Add ICD-10 code for depression.”

  • “Convert this into bullet points.”

  • “Rephrase this in DBT language.”

  • “Replace ‘client’ with ‘Pt’ throughout.”

💡 Pro Tip: You can stack edits. For example, “Summarize in bullets and use CBT-specific phrasing.”

4. Change Note Template or Preferences

Did you start with SOAP but decide you’d rather have a DAP note? No problem.

  1. In the left panel, go to Note Preferences.

  2. Use the dropdown to switch templates (SOAP, DAP, BIRP, EMDR, etc.).

  3. Supanote instantly reformats the note into the new structure.

⚠️ Note: Switching templates overwrites the current format. Double-check before finalizing.

5. Mark as Reviewed

Once you’re satisfied:

  1. Scroll to the bottom of the note.

  2. Click Mark as Reviewed.

  3. The note moves from Pending Review to your Reviewed Notes archive under the client profile.

💡 Therapist Tips

  • Voice Consistency: If you want every note to always say “Pt” instead of “Client,” set this once in Note Preferences → Supanote applies it automatically to all future notes.

  • Modality Alignment: Use Tell Supa AI with prompts like “Adjust this for CBT focus” or “Add DBT skills used.”

  • Save Time: Many therapists edit once, then click Copy to EHR immediately — you don’t have to over-edit if the draft is already compliant.
